The Memory Flowers are Phantom Blade Zero’s quietest collectible and its most consequential: 37 crystallised memories scattered across nine regions, each set permanently raising Soul’s maximum HP, several of them gating bosses, quests and the true ending’s supporting chain. Miss the wrong six in Crimson Forest and Bai Chilian’s second phase becomes a war of attrition you cannot win. This guide maps every flower by region, every set bonus, and the order that keeps you ahead of the game’s soft gates.

What Memory Flowers Actually Do

Memory Flowers are blue blossoms that crystallise where Sha-Chi saturates a place. Inanis teaches Soul to perceive them early in the campaign; from that point they appear as faint blue glows in the world. Listening to a flower plays a fragment of buried history — the Inanis and Chord tragedy, Baishan’s hollowing, the Mandate’s betrayals, the ordinary dead of the Village of Lu.

Mechanically, completing a full set permanently raises maximum HP. The bonus scales with the number of petals in the set:

Set size Max HP bonus
1/1 flower +5%
2 petals +5%
3–4 petals +7%
5–6 petals +10%

Any 10 flowers listened to unlocks the Listen to Every Flower trophy. There is no achievement for the full 37, which is why so many players stop early — and why so many then struggle in the late game.

All 37 Flowers by Region

Region Petals Sets
Weeping Creek Valley 1 Leng Tu 5/6 (Crimson Manor balcony)
Crimson Forest 18 Inanis whole (1); Fellow Disciples (3); On Perfect Transcension (4); Iron Fever (2); Inanis (6); Bai Chilian (2)
Village of Lu 16 Firefly (6); Villagers (4); Mandate Masters (3); Wulin Fighters (2); Transcension Defyers (1)
Pangzhen + Mirage Estate 33 Lion Dance (6); The Search (2); Estate Experiments (3); Bitter Kin (1); Reunion (1); A Mother’s Heart (2); Mandate Leaders (2); Bai Xue’er (2); Yu’er (3); Patron Gao (3); Thread-Binding (4); Three-Faced Puppet (3); Leng Tu (2)
Mandate Encampment 19 Seven Stars (6); Qianqian (3); Experiment Victim (3); Mandate Leaders (4); Transcension Defyers (1); Twin Heroes (2)
Meigu Lake 30 Yan’er (6); Blackwater (4); Xuan Li (3); Blizzard (6); Forbidden Blight (3); Leng Tu (3); Bitter Kin (1); Reunion (1); Old Man Gen (1); Intruder (2)
Mountain of Imprisonment 6 Huangxing (6)
Mount Soulrend 6 Monster (3); Xuan Li (3)

Note that several sets span regions — Leng Tu, Bitter Kin, Reunion and Xuan Li all have petals in more than one area, so a set can sit incomplete for hours without you realising it.

The Four Sets That Change Fights

Most flower sets are pure stat gain. Four are not.

  • Inanis (6 petals, Crimson Forest) — completing this set grants the Chord, which drains Bai Chilian’s Sha-Chi during her second phase. The community-reported trigger is that she becomes vulnerable around 2/3 HP. Without the Chord, that fight is a long grind.
  • Firefly (6 petals, Village of Lu) — clears the poison mist at the Broken Puppet Pit Entrance, which is the gate to Dusk, the Puppeteer and the Illusory Pipa Head. No Firefly set, no Dusk.
  • Yan’er (6 petals, Meigu Lake) — required for the Allure of Vanity mystery chain and the Yan Qiansui encounter.
  • Blizzard (6 petals, Meigu Lake) — tied to the Whiteshadow / Intruder boss line and the Blizzard Blademaster.

Everything else is HP. Useful HP, but HP.

The Best Collection Route

The efficient order follows the region progression and front-loads the sets that unlock content. Nothing is permanently missable — bells reopen after the credits — but several sets are far more valuable before their associated boss than after.

  1. Crimson Forest, before Bai Chilian. Collect all six Inanis flowers. This is the single highest-value detour in the game.
  2. Village of Lu, before Dusk. Collect all six Firefly flowers to clear the Broken Puppet Pit mist.
  3. Meigu Lake. Collect all six Yan’er flowers for Allure of Vanity, and all six Blizzard flowers for the Whiteshadow line.
  4. Sweep each region before its boss. Weeping before Jing Ye, Crimson before Bai Chilian, Lu before the Pangzhen transition, Pangzhen before the Green Serpent House door, Meigu before Mirage Estate.
  5. Post-credits cleanup. Any flower you missed can be recovered once the bells relight. Use the collectibles checklist to track stragglers.

Quest-Gated and Boss-Linked Sets

Several sets are not simply lying in the open. They are gated behind quests, keys or boss kills.

Set Gate Notes
Inanis (Crimson) None — open collection Must be done before Bai Chilian for the Chord
Firefly (Lu) None — open collection Gates Dusk and the Illusory Pipa Head
Yan’er (Meigu) None — open collection Feeds Allure of Vanity
Blizzard (Meigu) Whiteshadow / Intruder line Boss-linked
Leng Tu (Weeping + Meigu) Crimson Manor access Requires Puppet’s Tongue or Sha-Chi tower lift
Bai Xue’er (Pangzhen) Ledger of Atonement → Bai Xue Requires Chen Zhu’s quest chain
Yu’er (Pangzhen) Flesh Lily / Apprentice Healer chains Tied to Yu’er’s storyline
Three-Faced Puppet (Pangzhen) Triple Threat Statue at The Lady’s Rift

The Bai Xue’er set is the one most often missed, because it sits behind the Ledger of Atonement tale from Chen Zhu at the Commander’s Platform, which itself requires the Mountain of Imprisonment region. If you are chasing the true ending checklist, this set is not strictly required — but the HP is welcome on Mount Soulrend.

Missable Windows and Deadlines

Memory Flowers themselves are not permanently missable. The sets are not missable either. What is missable is the value of collecting them in time.

Region / gate What to finish Deadline
Weeping Creek Valley All available flowers Before leaving the valley
Crimson Forest All six Inanis flowers Before Bai Chilian
Village of Lu All six Firefly flowers Before Dusk
Pangzhen Pangzhen and Mirage sets Before Green Serpent House door
Meigu Lake Yan’er and Blizzard sets Before Mirage Estate
Mount Soulrend Everything unfinished Before The Last Chance

The Green Serpent House door in Pangzhen’s backstreets is the first hard point of no return, and the game warns you. The Last Chance bell on Mount Soulrend is the final gate. Both are documented in the missables checklist.

Sources & confidence

The flower counts, set names and region breakdowns come from PowerPyx’s collectible guide, cross-checked against Game8 and Fextralife. The mechanic — permanent max-HP scaling by petal count — is high confidence, agreed by multiple guides. The biggest uncertainty is the exact total: PowerPyx says 37 flowers and 129 petals, Game8 says 130, and Fextralife’s Pangzhen listing runs one entry long. The boss-linked effects of the Inanis, Firefly, Yan’er and Blizzard sets are community-documented rather than officially confirmed, so treat the specific HP thresholds as approximate.
